In October 2006, the Domestic Violence Prevention Act came into force. The broad definition of domestic violence is included in every vulnerability that women have to become disgrace and harassment.

 Protection, residence and financial procedures are legally guaranteed for women who are domestic violence. This Act provides for protection from the spouse from the husband and wife of their husbands and their husbands or women.

Emotional, emotional, physical, sexual abuse, and humiliation are covered under this Act. The definition of domestic violence has included women and their relatives who are being tortured for illegally dowry.

The main features of the law

i. The definition of the law includes hindering physical, sexual, gesturing, emotional and financial prosecution, health, safety and improved lifestyle, and morally or physically abusing a person.


ii. A spouse of a man or a man is a woman who is not recognized as a wife, some of whom will be subject to a law that is tortured.

iii. The Act also includes a woman, mother, widow, relative and daughter living in his house who is related to the divorce case.

iv. The magistrate has the right to propose to the husband not to leave the woman who has been deprived of her right to legalize her or stay there.

v. The magistrate has the right to provide financial relief, monthly and alimony.

vi. Punishment or jail term of up to one year shall be punishable with imprisonment up to a year and up to a maximum of Rs. 20,000 / - and sometimes even later.

vii. This law ensures speedy justice by starting court proceedings, calling for first hearing within three days of submitting a complaint.

viii. Each case is completed within 60 days from the first hearing.

A complaint is filed against a man resident of domestic violence or an adult male or his relatives (eg, husbands, men and women, or mother). Complaint should be submitted to Protection Officer, Police Officer, Service Providers (Welfare Organizations),

Judicial First Class Magistrate or Metropolitan Magistrate. Write down a complaint. In cases where domestic violence occurs, anyone who knows a harassing information can file a complaint / information when there is a harassment when domestic violence is going on. Only women can complain to the domestic violence law.

The following systems are designed to provide assistance to victims of domestic violence.

a) Emergency assistance to victims of torture

To provide shelter, treatment, counseling and guidance, 80 service providers have been approved in the state and are available on the website www.keralawomen.gov.in on the website www.swd.kerala.gov.in.

b) Legal counselors and services of the Psychological Psychologist are available at the service providers for victims of free health.

c) Protection Officers' Service is available in all districts for providing services to victims of harassment.
